Home My WebLink About861 - ADMIN Ordinance - City Council - 1962/11/05• • ORIGINAL • NOVEMBER 5, 1962 7B ORDINANCE NO. 861 ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE SALE BY THE CITY OF CERTAIN LANDS BETWEEN WOODDALE AVENUE AND ALABAMA '.VENUE WHEREPS, the City of St. Louis Park is the owner of certain lands in Block 47, Rearrangement of St. Louis Park, and Block 47, St. Louis Park Centre, which is at thc'present time the site of the City Hall, fire station and other municipal buildings, and WHEREAS, the City has proceeded with construction of a new Municipal Building at another site in thc City and it appears that the new City Hall and two ne.w fire stations will be completed within the next five years, and WHEREAS, the above mentioned land is at present located in an area zoned for industrial use and that if used as industrial or business property and returned to the tax rolls it would produce considerable revenue in the form of ta.ze s, and WHEREAS, there is no further need for said property for City use and it is to the public benefit that the same be sold, and WHEREAS, the City Charter requires that proceeds of a sale of City owned lands must be used first to pay off any indebtedness in acquiring the property and the excess be applied to the payment of any similar debt, it is hereby declared that said landswas acquired by the City without cost and it is appropriate that the' proceeds of the sale of this land be allocated to the Municipal Building fund, and WHEREAS, Minnesota Rubber Company has made the offer hereinafter described for a portion of said lands, therefore THE CITY OF ST. LOUIS PARK DOES ORDAIN: Section 1. It is hereby determined: (1) that Lots 7 to 11 inclusive, Block ''7, St. Louis Park Centre, according to the recorded plat thereof and Lots 25 to 39, inclusive, Block 47, and Lots 4/1- to 66, inclusive, Block 47, and vacated alley,. Rearrangement of St. Louis Park according to the recorded plat thereof on file a.id -' record in thc office of the Register of Deeds of Hen- nepin County, title to vr.hich is now in the City of St. Louis Park, is no lodger needed for thc public purposes for which it was acquired and it is in the best interests of the City that same be sold; and (2) that no indebtedness was incurred by the City for purchase of said property. :.ection Z. It is hereby determined that the reasonable fair market value of said property is One Hundred Thirty Thousand Dollars ($130, 000. 00) • • 0 Section 3. The Mayor and City Manager are hereby authorized in behalf of the City to enter into an agreement now before the Council for the sale of the said premises to Minnesota. Rubber Company, a Minnesota Corporation, for the sum of One Hundred Thirty Thousand Dollars ($130, 000. 00), payable Sixty-five Thousand Dollars ($65, 000. 00) upon execution of said agree- ment and the balance upon delivery of the Warranty Deed of the City in accord- ance with said agreement the terms of which are hereby approved. Section 4. The proceeds of sale of the said land shall be paid into a special fun,' by the Treasurer to be designated as "Municipal Building Reserve Fund". Section_ 5. This Ordinance shall take effect fifteen days after its pubs cation.
