THE CITY OF ST. LOUIS PARK DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. Amending Sections 1711, 1712, 2202, 2515 (e), 2806 (a)
E: tions, 3502 and 5109. That Ordinance No. 698, passed -June 1, 1959,
entitled "An Ordinance Regulating Construction of Buildings: Amending the
St. L ,uis Park Ordinance Code Relating to the Building Code Section 5:115,
Entitled 'Adoption of Uniform Building Code by Reference', and Adopting by
Refcr2nce Portions of the International Conference of Building Officials Code,
Entitl :d 'Uniform Building Code, 1958 Edition'", is hereby amended so that
Sections 1711, 1'712, 2202, 2515 (e), 2806 (a) Exceptions, 3502 and 5109 read
as follows:
Section 1711. The floors and walls of toilet compartments in A
trrcugh H occupancies and those within two feet (2') ol the front and aides of
urinal , shall be finished with a smooth hard surface of cement, ceramic tile,
or an approved equal. Walls shall be so finished to a height of four feet (4')
above the floor. Materials other than structural elements used in such walls
shall b� of a material which is not adversely affecte± y moisture or so treated
;n a manner as to be waterproof. Shower compartments in all occupancies,

Sheathing shall be one or more of thc following materials:

complying with U. B. C. Standard No. 22-1-58.
Plywood not less than three eighths inch (3/8") thick,
complying with U. B. C. Standard No. 25-11-58.
Section 2515 (c). Plank and Beam Cons ruction. Floor and roof
of plank and beam construction may be designed as provided in this code
or .=ct forth in U. B. C. Standar_ No. 25-29-58. When used for light frame

nine inches (9") apart.
Porches and exterior balconies may be constructed of the materials
allowed for the building to which they are attached, but structural steel or iron
members need not be fire protected.
Section 5109 (a). Clearances. 1. Vertical clearance above cooking
top. Domestic f=ee -standing or built-in ranges shall have a vertical clearance
above the cooking top of not less than thirty inches (30") to combustible material
or metal_ cabinets. When the underside of such combustible material or metal
cabinets is protected with asbestos millboard at least ;,ne-fourth inch (1/4") thick
covered with shect metal of not less than No. 28 U. S. gauge, the distance shall be
not less than twenty-four inches (24"). The protection shall extend nine inches
(9") beyond the sides of the range. When combustible material or metal cabinets
above the cooking top of domestic free-standing or built-in ranges are protected
by a metal ventilating hood, the top of which is less than twenty-four inches (24")
above the cooking top and is insulated with at least one-fourth inch (1/4") thick
asbestos millboard, such protection need not extend beyond the sides of the range.
2. Horizontal clearance cf built-in top cooking units.
The minimum horizontal distance from the center of the burner head (s) of a top
(...r surface) cooking unit to vertical combustible walls extending above the top
panel shall be not less than that distance specified by the permanent marking
on the unit.
