SIGNS IN B-3 BUSINESS DISTRICT AND AMENDING SECTIONS
6:049.3, GENERAL CONDITIONS; 6:051, DISTRICTS AND
MAPS; 6:131, PERFORMANCE STANDARDS; 6:171.1 SUB-
DIVISION 11, S:?ECIAL PROVISIONS; 6:176.3 INDUSTRIAL
DEVELOPMENT UNITS; TO MAKE PROVISION THEREIN
FOR B-3 BUSINESS DISTRICT
THE CITY OF ST. LOUIS- PARK DOES ORDAIN:

Section 1. That Ordinance No. 730 passed December 28,
1959, as amended entitled the "St. Louis Park Zoning Ordinance" is hereby
amended by addition of the following principal uses:
SECTION 6:125 - "B-3" BUSINESS DISTRICT
Section 6:126 - Permitted Principal Uses. Within any B-3
Business District, no structure or land shall be used, except for one (1)
or more of the following uses:
Subd. 1. Artificial limbs manufacture
Subd. 2. Camera and photographic supplies manufacture
Subd. 3. Cartography and bookbinding
Subd. 4. Electrical and electronic products manufacture
Subd. 5. Electrical service shops
Subd. 6 Engraving, printing, and publishing
Subd. 7. Jewelry manufacture
Subd. 8. Medical dental, and optical laboratories
Subd. 9. Musical instruments manufa.cturc
Subd. 10. Offices
Subd. 11. Precision instruments manufacture
Subd. 12. Restaurant
Subd. 13. Surgical and laboratory product: manufacture
Subd. 14. Trade school
:.: ction 6:127 - Uses by Special Permit. Within any B-3 Business
District, no structure oz land shall be used for the following uses, except by
special permit:
Subd. 1. Public utility structures
Subd. 2. Radio, t:levision or transmission towers
Subd. 3. Railroad spurs and sidings
Subd. 4. Res :arch and testing laboratories
Subd. 5. Glass products manufacture, provided they are
produced from previously prepared materials
Subd. 6. Plastic products manufacture
Subd. 7. Shoes, boots, footwear in`nufacture, provided they
are produced from previously prepared materials
Section 6 128 - Permitted Accessory Uses. Within any B-3
c.:siness Distric •, the :ollowing uses shall be permitted accessory uses:
Subd. 1. Residential structures and related residential uses_
necessary for security and safety reasons in relation
to thc principal use.
Subd. 2. Employee cafeterias and on -job recreational
facilities
Subd. 3. Signs as regulated in this Ordinance. All roof
signs aro prohibited in the B-3 Business District
Subd. 4. Storag;: connected with the principal use, limited
to forty (40) per cent of thc floor area

Section 6:129 - Lot Area, Height, Lot Widths, and Yard Requirements.
Subd. 1. The floor area ratio within the B-3 Business
District shall not exceed 0. 5.
Subd. 2. No building or structure shall exceed thirty (30)
feet in height, except as provided in Section 6:178.
Subd. 3. Side yar:1 abutting a street on a corner lot shall not
be less than thirty-five (35) feet in width.
Subd. 4. Where adjacent lots within the block front, or
those lots on both sides of a lot within three
hundred (300) feet along the block front, which-
ever is less, are occupied by a principal structure
having a setback of less than fifty (50) feet from the
street, the required front yard depth shall be equal
to or greater than the average setback of the adjacent
structures. If only one (1) lot is occupied by a
principal structure, the front yard depth shall be
one-half (1/2) the sum of fifty (50) feet plus the
depth of the setback of that adjacent principal
structure..
Subd. 5
The following minimum requirements shall be ob-
servc.-?, subject to the additional requirements, ex-
ceptions, and modifications as set forth in Section
6:178:
Lot Area Lot Width

Side Yard Width
20 ft.
Front Yard Depth
50 ft.
Rear Yard Depth
20 ft.
Subd. E. The setback areas and any other vacant area,
except those areas designated for parking, loading,
or railroad spurs, shall be sodded or seeded, and
landscaped with trees and shrubs.
Section 2. That Ordinance No. 730 passed December 28, 1959, as
s_ntitled the "St. Louis Park Zoning Ordinance" is hereby amended
by addition of the_ following erection:
C.:ction 6:171.3, Subd. Within the "B-3" Use District. the aggre-
,;atc square footage of advertising sign space per lot shall not exceed the sum

cf one and one-half (1 1/2) square feet per front foot of building plus one
(1) .quare foot for each one thousand (1,000) square feet of land devoted to
ofi-street parking. The least width of a corner lot shall be the front for
purl c•ses of this Ordinance. No individual sign surface shall exceed two
nundreci fifty (250) square feet in area, nor shall two (2) or more smaller
si�ns be so arranged and integrated as to cause an advertising surface over
two hundred fifty (2E0) square feet in area.
,section 3. That Section 6:049.3 of Ordinance No. 730 passed
D::c,;mb. r 28, 1959, entitled "St. Louis Park Zoning Grdinance" is hereby
arr andcd to read as follows:
:,`ction 6:049.3. Open storage in conjunction with a permitted
b`siness shall be piohibited in the "R -B", "B-1", "B-2" and "B-3" Districts,
except as specifically permittc2 elsewhere in this Ordinance.
Section 4. That Section 6:051 of Ordinance No 730 passed December
28. 1959, entitled ''St. Louis .Par! -.,Zoning Ordinance" is hereby amended to
as follows:
Section 6:051 - Districts - For the purpose of this Ordinance, the City
of St. Louis Park i; hereby divided into the follcwing Use Districts and
groups of Use Districts:
"R" DISTRICTS
R- 1 Single 'amily Residence District
R-2 Single Family Residence District
R-3 Two Family Residence District
R-4 One (1) to Eleven (11) Family Residence District
""B" DISTRICTS
R- B Residence. - Business District
B- 1 Neighborhood Business District
B-2 General Business District
B-3 Business District
"I" DISTRICTS
I- 1 Industrial District
1-2 Industrial District
I-3 Inlustrial District
Reference in this Ordinance to "R", "B", and "I" Districts shall
r, fcr to the Use District Groups as above set forth, and reference to specific
Us:: Districts shall be by reference to the individual districts listed above
as "R-1", "R-2" ;.nd so forth. _
Section 5. Tha: Section 6:131 of Ordinance No. 730, passed
December 28, 1959, entitled "St. Louis Park Zoning Grdinance" is hereby
amended tc read as follows:
Section 6:131 - Performance Standards in the "B-3", ' :- 1", "I-2" and
"1-3" District - The estL.blishment of the above named districts is to provide
2:1equatc space in appropriate locations so that thc economic strength of the
c cmrnunity may be advanced, the movement of raw material and finished prod-
ucts may be accomplishQd with a minimum of effect upon the public welfare,
protect industrial lan(l from incompatible user, so as to promote the most
leslra b1e use of the lana according to a Comprehensive Plan for the community.
Section 6. That Section 6:171. 1, Subd. 11 of Ordinance No. 730,
passed December 28, 1959, entitled "St. Louis Park Zoning Ordinance" is
h•:,reby amended to read as follows:
.action 6:171. 1, Subd. 11. One (1) name plate sign per lot in the
"D-2", "B-3", "I-1", '1-2" and "1-3" Use Districts pertaining to a permitted
use. may be erected within an arca not to exceed fifty per cent, (50%) of the
authorized aggregate square footage of advertising sign space for such lot.
Section 7. That Section 6:176.3 of Ordinance No. 730 passed
December 28, 1959, ertitled "St. Louis Park Zoning Ordinance" is hereby
rnende:i to read as follows:
Section 6:176.3 - Industrial Development Units or Industrial Park -
T; purpose of this section cf the Zoning Ordinance is to establish provisions
for the: granting of a permit to r revide a multiple building industrial facilities
-.v th integrated design and a coorzianted physical plan which is appropriately
located.
The owner or cwncrs of any tract of land within the "B-3", "I-1" or
"?'<-2" In.:t:strlal Use District containing twenty (20) acres or more or a par-
cel. 'n which four (4) or more b:•ildings are to be located may submit to the
City Co.incll for apprcval a plan for thc development and use of such tract

Subd. 1. The tract of land for which a project is proposed
and a permit requested shall not have less than
four hundred (400) feet of frontage on a public
right-of-way
Subd. 2. The proposed project shall be served by the City
Water and Sewer System and fire hydrants shall be
installed at such locations as necessary to provide
fire protection
Subd. 3.
The entire site other than that taken up by structure,
open storage or landscaping shall be surfaced with a
material to control dust and drainage.
Subd. 4. A drainage system subject to the approval of the
City I�ngineer shall be installed
Subd. 5. A fence of acceptable design not over six (6) feet
in height or less than four (4) feet, which is at least
fifty per cent (500) closed, shall be/constructed
along the property line or a planting strip not less
than fifteen (15) feet in width reserved and planted
along the property line when such property line
abuts an "R-1", "R-2", "R-3" or "R-4" Use
District. Such fence or planting strip shall be
adequately maintained.
Section 8. This Ordinance shall take effect fifteen days after its
