HomeMy WebLinkAbout699 - ADMIN Ordinance - City Council - 1959/06/01e • Original 5/21/59 ORDINANCE NO, 699 JUN 1 1959 ORDINANCE REDETERMINING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE FOUR WARDS OF TTY OF ST, LOUIS PARK THE CITY OF ST, LOUIS PARK DOES ORDAIN: Section 1. That ward lines of the City are hereby redetermined, and the City is hereby divided into four separate wards, and precincts therein, as follows: WARD NOe 1 shall be the area bounded on the East and North by City limits, on the West by Minneapolis North- field and Southern Railroad South to Cedar Lake Road, thence West on the Center Line of Cedar Lake Road to the Center line of Dakota Avenue, thence South on Center Line of Dakota Avenue and Dakota Avenue extended• terminating at the right-of-way of Chicago Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Rail road right-of-way. The precincts therein shall be as follows: PRECINCT 1. Precinct 1 is the area bounded on the East by France Avenue 'City Limits) on the North by Cedarwood Road and 24th Street, and Cedarwood Road extended to Natchez Avenue extended, thence South on Natchez Avenue and Natchez Avenue extended to West 26th Street and West 26th Street to State Highway No. 100, on the West by Highway #100, and on the South by West 28th Street. PRECINCT 20 Precinct 2 is the area bounded on the North by West 28th Street on the East by France Avenue (City Limits) on the South by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad and on the West by Buit Line Highway #100. PRECINCT 3. Precinct 3 is the area bounded on the North by the Main line of the Great Northern Railroad, and on the West by Center line of Dakota Avenue and extension thereof, on the South by the Chicago Milwaukee St. Paul and Pacific Railroad right-of-way, on the East by Center line of Zarthan Avenue and extension thereof. PRECINCT 4. Precinct 4 is the area bounded on the North by the Main line right-of-way of the Great Northern Railroad, on the West by Center Lane of Zarthan Avenue and extensions thereof, on the South by the Chicago Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Rail- road, on the East by the Belt Line Highway #100. PRECINCT 5. Precinct 5 is the area bounded on the North and East by the City Limits, on the West by Minneapolis, Northfield and Southern Railroad South to Cedar Lake Road thence West on the Center Line of Cedar Lake Road to the Center Line of Dakota Avenue and Dakota Avenue extended, to the Great Northern Railroad right-of-way, and on the South by the Great Northern Railroad right-of-way to State Highway #100 , thence South on Highway #100 to West 26th Street, thence East on West 26th Street to Natchez Av-snue and thence North on the Center Line of Natchez Avenue extended, North to Center Line of Cedarwood Road and extension thereof thence East on said Center Line of Cedarwood Road and extension thereof, and West 24th Street to the City Limits. WARD NO. 2 shall be the area bounded on the North by the Main Line of the Chicago Milwaukee St. Paul and Pacific tracks, on the South by South City Limits, on the East by East City Limits, on the West by West City Limits. The precincts therein shall be as follows: PRECINCT 1. Precinct 1 is the area bounded on the North by Main Line of Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad, oa the est by the City Limits, on the South by Wept 40th Street West to Center Line of Natchez Avenue, thence North on Center Line of Natchez Avenue to E:r:celsior Boulevard thence West on the Center Line of Excelsior Boulevard to Highway No. 100, on the West by Belt Line Highway #100. PRECINCT 2. Precinct 2 is the area bounded on the North by Center Line of Excelsior Boulevard, on the East by the Center Line Natchez Avenue and South of West 40th Street by East City Limits, on the South by the South City Limits, an the West by the Center Line of Vernon Avenue. - 2- PRECINCT 3. Precinct 3 is the area bounded on the North by Center line of Excelsior Boulevard, on the East by Center Line of Vernon Avenue, on the South by South City Limits, on the West by West City Limits. PRECINCT 4. Precinct 4 is the area bounded on the North by Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad right-of-way, on the South by Excelsior Boule- vard, on the East by Belt Line Highway #100 on the West by the Center Line of Edgewood Avenue, and Edgewood Avenue extended South to Excelsior Boulevard. PRECINCT 5. Precinct 5 is the area bounded on the North by Main Line right-of-way of Chicago, Milwaukee , St. Paul and Pacific Railroad, on the West by West City Limits, on the East by the Center Line of Edgewood Avenue and Edgewood extended South to Excelsior Boulevard. WARD NO. 3 shall be the area bounded on the South by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad and the South City Limits on Division Street and Texas Avenue, on the East by Center Line of Dakota Avenue and exten- sions thereof, on the North by the Main Line of the Great Northern Railroad and the Hopkins ' Branch of the Great Northern Railroad, on the West by the Hopkins Branch of the Great Northern, except where it abuts the Aquila School property and the North, East, and South boundaries of the Aquila School property. The precincts therein shall be as follows: PRECINCT 1. Precinct 1 is the area bounded on the South by the Main Line of the Chicago, Milwaukee St. Paul and Pacific Railroad right-of-way thence North and West on City Limits to the Center Line of State Highway # 7, thence East on Center Line of Highway # 7 to Center Line of Rhode Island Avenue, thence North to Center Line of West 34th Street, thence East on Center Line of West 34th Street and extension thereof to Center Line of Gorham Avenue, thence South on Center Line of Gorham Avenue and Hampshire Avenue to Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad right -of-way. PRECINCT Z. Precinct 2 is the area bounded on the North by Center Line of West 31st Street, on the East by Center Line of Dakota Avenue, on the South by Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad, on the West by Center Line of Hampshire Avenue, from said Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad North to a point where it intersects Gorham Avenue, and in Center Line on Gorham Avenue to a point where West 34th Street extended East would inter- sect, thence West on the Center Line of West 34th Street and extension thereof, to Center Line of Rhode Island Avenue, thence North on Rhode Island Avenue to 31st Street. PRECINCT 3. Precinct 3 is the area bounded on the North by Great Northern Railroad on the East by Center Line of Dakota Avenue and extensions thereof, on the South by Center Line of West 31st Street, and on the West as follows: Center Line of Jersey Avenue from West 31st Street North to the East and West alley in Block 6, Lenox Addition, thence East to the West door of the auditorium of the Lenox School, thence North to the Center Line of Minnetonka Boulevard, thence West on Center Line of Minnetonka Boulevard to Center Line of Jersey Avenue, thence North on Center Line of Jersey Avenue to Great Northern Railroad right-of-way. PRECINCT 4. Precinct 4 is the area bounded on the North by the Great Northern Railroad and the Hopkins Branch of the Great Northern Railroad on the West by Center Line of Texas Avenue and extension thereof, on the South by Center Line of West 31st Street, on the East as follows: Center Line of Jersey Avenue North from West 31st Street to East and West alley in Block 6, Lenox Addition, thence East to West door of the Lenox School auditorium, thence North to Center Line of Minnetonka Boulevard, thence West on the Center Line of Minnetonka Boulevard to Center Line of Jersey Avenue, thence North on Center Line of Jersey Avenue and extension thereof to the Great Northern Railroad. -4- • PRECINCT 2. Precinct 2 is the area bounded on the North by City Limits, on the West by Flag Avenue and extensions thereof to the East-West quarter -quarter line of the South West quarter of Section 7, Township 117, Range 21, thence East on said quarter -quarter line to its intersection with the Great Northern Railroad right- of-way, thence East along said Great Northern Railroad right-of-way to the Center Line of Virginia Avenue, thence North along the Center Line of Virginia Avenue to the Center Line of Cedar Lake Road, thence along the Center Line of Cedar Lake Road to the Center Line of Texas Avenue, thence North along Center Line of Texas Avenue to its intersection with the South boundary, or extension thereof, of the Plat of Westwood Hills Grove, then West along said South boundary of the Plat of Westwood Hills Grove, and extension thereof, to its Westerly termination being the Southwest corner of said Plat, thence North in a straight line along the Westerly line of said Plat of Westwood Hills Grove, and its extension Northerly, to the North City Limits. PRECINCT 3. Precinct 3 is the area bounded on the North by Great Northern Railroad on the West by West City Lirrnits, on the South by South City limits, on the E.ast as follows: The Hopl:ins Branch of the Great Northern Railroad, except where it abuts the Aquila School property and by the North, East, and South bound- aries of the Aquila School property. PRECINCT 4. Precinct 4 is the area bounded on the North by North City Limits, on the East by Center Line of Louisiana Avenue on the South by Great Northern Railroad, on the West as follows: Center Line of Virginia Avenue North of the Great Northern Railroad to Center Line of Cedar Lake Road, Center Line of Cedar Lake Road, East to Center Line of Texas Avenue, Center Line of Texas Avenue North to South boundary or extension thereof, of the Plat of Westwood Hills Grove, thence West along said South boundary or extension thereof of Westwood Hills Grove, to its Westerly termina- tion, being the Southwest corner of said plat thence North in a straight line along the Westerly line of said plat of Westwood Hills Grove and its extension Northly, to the North City Limits. -6- • • PR r✓CINCT 5. Section 2. That the City Council pursuant to Section 2:03 of the Charter of the City of St. Louis Park hereby finds that the wards as so redetermined in Section 1 hereof are of as near equal size in both population and area as is practicable, and that the redetermination of the ward lines as above set forth is based upon the findings of the Council.
