City Council meeting minutes
November 19, 1990
6a. Omni Mechanical Request for special permit for
'Resolution 90-175 outdoor storage at 7320 Oxford
St.
There being no one wishing to speak, the Mayor Pro Tem closed the
hearing with the right of Council to thereafter reopen and continue
it at a future date.
There was concern expressed relative to the fencing to screen the
outdoor storage area.
The Director of Community Development said the 6' chain link fence
with wooden slats does comply with code requirements.
It was moved by Councilmember Haun, seconded by Councilmember Tschida,
to adopt Resolution 90-175 entitled "A resolution granting special
permit under Section 14-171 (6) (z) of the St. Louis Park Ordinance
Code relating to zoning to permit outdoor storage for property zoned
I-1 , Industrial District, located at 7320 Oxford St."
Councilmember Friedman asked about assurances that the wooden inserts
will be maintained. The City Manager responded that was an enforcement
matter overseen by Inspectional Services.
Councilmember Friedman' s concern was that throughout the City at outdoor
storage facilities, loading docks, etc. there is evidence of these
chain link fences with inserts not being maintained, that they don't
seem to hold up. He suggested staff re-evaluate this type of fencing
as a screening device.
Councilmember Haun felt that for an extimated 300' of fencing, 6 evergreen
trees was insufficient.
The motion to approve passed 4-0.
6b. Reconvene public hearing Proposed budget/tax levy
Resolution 90-176
Ms. Murphy 5822 W. 27th St. was advised she should have brought her concerns to the
Board of Equalization meeting in 1990. Councilnether Friedman suggested she call the City
Assessor to discuss the matter with him.
There being no one further wishing to speak, the Mayor Pro Tem closed
the hearing with the right of Council to thereafter reopen and continue
it at a future date.
It was moved by Councilmember Tschida, seconded by Councilmember Haun,
to adopt Resolution 90-176 entitled "Resolution approving 1990 tax
levy, collectible in 1991 ."
Councilmember Tschida asked about the implications of the hearing
being continued. She was concerned that only four Councilmembers would be
voting on this important issue.
The City Manager shared with Council procedures received from the
State that day.
