Mayor McQua.id at noon.

3) 1982 Insurance Bids In response to a question from Councilman Ralles,

bids were received including the Sentry
Insur.ance Company which had not bid for the past 12 years. He continued
that although the City invited bids from 40 po�ential bidders, iC has
benefitted�from the increase in competition. He also
explained the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trus�t has had an
impact on reduced rates.
Councilman Ralles agreed that the objective of attracting more
bidders had improved and stressed its impar�ance in that bids on
insurance vary a great dea1, especially with increased competi�ion.
The Finance Director explained the City's insurance premitsms had
escalated drastically in 1979 and 1980, wi th reduced rates in 1981
including a first-time dividend of approximately $130,000. He
the dividend to the League's Insurance Trust which encouraged
companies to offer a comparable plan.

The City Manager discussed the City's past experiences with high
workers cvmpeasation claims and how it has benefitted from the
share-the-loss-ratio of its current policy.
It was moved by Councilman Backes, seconded by Councilman Maartin,
