T11e following Councilmen were present ro11 ca�.l: Ronald Backes Jerrold Martin John Ralles R ichard Strohl Phyllis McQuaid the City Manager, Finance Director and City � 3) 1982 Insurance Bids In response to a question from Councilman Ralles, • 1 i d th e the City Finance Director exp a ne re bids were received including the Sentry Insur.ance Company which had not bid for the past 12 years. He continued that although the City invited bids from 40 po�ential bidders, iC has benefitted�from the increase in competition. He also explained the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trus�t has had an impact on reduced rates. Councilman Ralles agreed that the objective of attracting more bidders had improved and stressed its impar�ance in that bids on insurance vary a great dea1, especially with increased competi�ion. The Finance Director explained the City's insurance premitsms had escalated drastically in 1979 and 1980, wi th reduced rates in 1981 including a first-time dividend of approximately $130,000.
