Mayor Fleetham reported that according to ttheSestablitate �hmenthway Dofaatcorridor

Environmental Impact Statement relating to
on existing Highway 12 is almost completed and the Highway Department
anticipates having construction underway by 1979 .
Jane Borochoff noted that the citizens of the Kilmer area are concerned
about the amount of right -of -way that will be needed for an interchange
at County Road 18 . The residents are concerned for the area and do not
want to see any homes removed nor a service road located directly behind
the remaining houses .
Councilman Rose -Mary Griak assured the Kilmer people that the City will
work closely with them and keep them informed on the status cf the proposed
I - 394 . Councilman Thiel stated that the existing state and county roads
which pass through St . Louis Park are carrying excessive traffic and
that the construction of 1 - 394 will help get this through traffic out of
residential neighborhoods .
Councilman Druskin read a statement from Representative John Arlandson
opposing the construction of I- 394 and stating that he has co - authored a
bill in the legislature placing a moratorium on obtaining right - of -way
to construct I- 394 and 35E .
Councilman Griak assured the residents that unless the Environmental
Impact Statement and the design are responsive to the concerns of
St . Louis Park , the Council will not support the construction . She
noted that the entire Council is concerned about the Kilmer neighborhood

and does not want to permit anything to be done that will cause its
destruction or adversely affect it , Councilman Druskin informed
the residents that Councilman Griak always serves as an advocate
of the residents of her ward , including the Kilmer area , and continues
to express her concern that the Council be aware of the special needs
of the Kilmer area .
Councilman Griak stated that she hopes the people of the Kilmer area
will continue to communicate their concerns to the Council . She noted
that the City has a good relationship with the Highway Department and
that as more information regarding 1 - 394 is received it will be passed
on to representatives of the Kilmer area .
