Mayor Fleetham opened the hearing .
There being no one present wishing to speak , the Mayor declared the hearing
closed .
It was moved by Councilman Hanks , seconded by Councilman Druskin , to reopen
the hearing and continue it to September 241 1974 . The motion carried 4 - 0 ,
( Councilman Graves and Councilman Thiel were not present )
7 . PETITIONS , REQUESTS AND COMMUNICATIONS
( a ) REQUEST OF FLORENCE BOYLE , 3929 ALABAMA AVENUE , TO ADDRESS COUNCIL CONCERNING
STREET PAVING
Florence Boyle , 3929 Alabama , explained to the Council that she is concerned
about the amount of truck traffic on Alabama Avenue . The Director of Public
Works explained that Alabama Avenue currently serves as a collector street for
the area and provides an access from the north into the Oxford industrial area .
In response to a question from Ms . Boyle , the Director of Public Works explained
that Alabama is being constructed according to specifications for a 9 ton load
limit because emergency vehicles from Fire Station # 1 use it for access out of 00
area ,
Mayor Fleetham informed Ms . Boyle that the load limit on Alabama will be reduced
to 4 tons as soon as the intersection modifications are made and the semaphores
installed at Louisiana Avenue and Excelsior Boulevard , Mayor Fleetham explained
that Louisiana Avenue will be the access route into the Oxford industrial ares
when the project is completed ,
Councilman Druskin stated that he would like to hear from Florence Boyle in the
Spring of 1975 to see if the load

Ili Tesponse to a question from Mr . Matzke , the Director of Public Works
explained the various factors considered to solve the drainage problem
along Alabama. Avenue at the railroad tracks .
Mayor Fleetham noted that costs for any construction which must 'be dobe as
a result Of the contractor ' s error must be borne by the contrac tor , not the
City .
ColIncilmart D .ruskin suggested tb. at perhaps the Mobil City Hall could be
utilized to answer any 'reinaini.ng questions residents may have . The City
Manager noted. tobat t:be Mobil City Hall has been in the Elmwood area approxi -
mately ten, times to answe :x• questions and discuss the project with. residents .

been rude to residents in the area . Caron Townes , 3850 A1_ abama. Avenue South ,

( a ) NORTHERN STATES POWER UTILITY EASEMENT - tiIUNICIPAL SERVICE CENTER
It was moved by Councilman Thiel , seconded by Councilman Druskin , to
instruct staff to continue to discuss this easement with Northern Stages
Power Company and suggest that a solution with a less negative effect 0*0
the aesthetics of the area and more compatible with future land use PI01 '
be sought . The motion carried 6 - 0 .

Councilman Meland informed the Council that he has been requested to
