I t f 4 . MINUTES On motion of Councilman Graves : seconded by Councilman Fleetham , the minutes of the regular meeting held March 30 , 1970 were approved by a seven yea vote . 5 . George Condon , 2801 Idaho Avenue and Bill YValker , 2805 Hampshire Avenue expressed concern. about the widening of 28th Street and making it a State I id street in that it might cause more and faster moving traffic , Several petitions were presented in opposition to the project and to various parts of the project as proposed . All questions placed by interested citizens were answered by Council and Staff . " The motion carried 7 - 0 . ( c ) SECOND READING OF "PROPOSED ORDINANCE REGULATING NEWSPAPER VENDING I\/IAChINES 71 Council Minutes , April 6 , 1970 7 . ( e ) Froward Mithune and John Dennison were present representing the Minneapolis Star and Tribune . Since new information had just been received , Councilman Galinson moved to defer this matter to April 20 , 1970 • Councilman Fleetham seconded the motion which carried 5 - 2 , Councilmen Reynolds and Fleetham voting nay . (d ) RESOLUTION EXT^ENDING SYMPATHY TO THS• FAIv� IL f OF KERN ANDERSON RESOLUTION NO. 3935 It was moved by Councilman Fleetham , seconded by Councilman Graves , to waive reading and adopt Resolution No . 3935 entitled , " Resolution Extending Sympathy to the Family of Kern Anderson . " The motion carried unanimously , ( e ) RESOLUTION EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO THE FAMILY OF OFFICER ROBERT SUNDSTROM RESOLUTION NO . 3936 It was moved by Councilman Fleetham , seconded by Councilman Graves , to waive reading and adopt Resolution No . 3936 " Resolution Extending Sumpathy to the Family of Officer Robert Sundstrom . Councilman Heltze r moved to appoint Don Trantow to the Citizens Advisory Committee to fill the unexpired term of Dr . Lawrence Garfin (expiring 12 / 31 / 71 ) . Councilman Reynolds seconded and the motion carried 5 - 1 , Councilman F leetham voting nay . Councilman Fleetham moved to appoint Alice Olsen to the FUman Rights Commission to the unexpired term of John Levine ( ego 6 / 1 / 72 ) . MISCELLANEOUS None 12 , CLAIMS , APPROPRIATIONS , AND CONTRACT PA fIVIENTS ( a ) VERIFIED CLAIMS On motion of Councilman Graves , seconded by Councilman Reynolds , the lists of verified claims prepared by the Director of Finance and presented to the Council dated April 6 , 1970 in the total amount of $ 75 , 121 , 87 for vendors were approved , and the City Manager , City Clerk , and City Treasurer were authorized to issue checks covering same by a six yea vote .
