4 . MINUTES
On motion of Councilman Graves : seconded by Councilman Fleetham ,
the minutes of the regular meeting held March 30 , 1970 were approved
by a seven yea vote .

Georgia Avenue objected to particular portions of the proposed
improvement such as placement of certain sidewalks , replacement
of curb , gutter , sidewalk and paving which is presently thought to
be in good condition,
Ray Friedell , 2713 Louisiana Avenue , asked whether this project
was in any way connected with the Housing and redevelopment
Authoritya lie was told that there was no connection .

responsibility for old curb that has tipped .
George Condon , 2801 Idaho Avenue and Bill YValker , 2805 Hampshire
Avenue expressed concern. about the widening of 28th Street and
making it a State I id street in that it might cause more and faster
moving traffic ,
Several petitions were presented in opposition to the project
and to various parts of the project as proposed .
All questions placed by interested citizens were answered by
Council and Staff . The entire project was explained in some detail
by the Director of Public Works with the aid of slides and maps .

the Minneapolis Star and Tribune .
Since new information had just been received , Councilman
Galinson moved to defer this matter to April 20 , 1970 • Councilman
Fleetham seconded the motion which carried 5 - 2 , Councilmen
Reynolds and Fleetham voting nay .
(d ) RESOLUTION EXT^ENDING SYMPATHY TO THS• FAIv� IL f OF

RESOLUTION NO. 3935
It was moved by Councilman Fleetham , seconded by Councilman

( a ) VERIFIED CLAIMS
On motion of Councilman Graves , seconded by Councilman
Reynolds , the lists of verified claims prepared by the Director
of Finance and presented to the Council dated April 6 , 1970 in
the total amount of $ 75 , 121 , 87 for vendors were approved , and the
City Manager , City Clerk , and City Treasurer were authorized to
issue checks covering same by a six yea vote . Councilman Thiel
had left the meeting . ;
