BOARD OF EQUALIZATION MEETING
July 9;, 1959
The adjourned meeting of June 29, 1959 was called to order by Council—
man Davis at 10:05 a.m. July 9, 1959.
Present were: Councilmen Davis, Owen, Wolfe, and Ehrenberg, the Assessor
City Clerk and Mr. Sundt from the County Supervisor of Assessors Office.
The following persons appeared:
1. Herbert J. Alves and Leo Grey, representing Black Top Service Company,
relative to personal property assessment of Equipment and Plant.
On motion of Councilman Ehrenberg, seconded by Councilman Wolfe, the
Assessors recommendation to put line 19 "Manufactures Tools etc." figure
at $45,000.00 was approved by a four yea vote.
It was moved by Councilman Ehrenberg, seconded by Councilman Owen, that
action on line 15 "Road Building, Mining and Contracting Machinery etc."
be deferred until new evidence has been received. Motion passed by a
four yea vote.
2. Mr. W. F. Paulson, 2721 Kipling Avenue, stated his 1958 assessed valuation
on real estate was too high.
It was moved by Councilman Ehrenberg, seconded by Councilman Wolfe, that
no action be taken regarding Mr. Paulson's property assessment, based on
information we have. Motion passed by a four yea vote.
3. Mrs. Charles, 6015 Excelsior Boulevard, felt that assessed value on this
piece of commercial property was too high. It was -explained to Mrs. C
Charles that this was not real estate year and that in 1960 the property
would be reassessed. She stated that the taxes were too high fior the
rent obtainable for the property.
It was moved by Councilman Ehrenberg, seconded by Councilman Wolfe,
that no action be taken relative to the Charles property at 6015 Excel—
sior Boulevard. Motion passed by a four kea vote.
4. Mr. Lenz, 4241 Princeton Avenue, stated his assessed valuation on real
estate was too high. He was told that it would be reviewed by assessor
in 1960.
It was moved by Councilman Wolfe, seconded by Councilman Ehrenberg, that
no change be made in the assessed value of 4241 Princeton Avenue. Motion
passed by a four yea vote.

5. Joseph Wright,/3230 Gorham Avenue and 6500 West Lake Street, stated he
was questioning the difference in the assessed valuations of his two
buildings; also stated he felt land value was too high. It was suggested
that he secure a private appraisal of value of both places and bring the
appraial to Mr. Connery. Mr. Connery was requested to get in touch
