A letter from R. B. Dunsworth, 1601 Edgewood Avenue, dated August 25, 1950,
requesting that CHILDREN - DRIVE SLOWLY signs be placed on Edgewood Avenue near
the corner of Edgewood and Dakota Avenues; also on the corner of Edgewood Ave.
and 18th Street, was -read. On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Clerk
Justad, the Police Department was instructed to place the above requested signs
at requested locations, by unanimous vote of.Council Members present.

On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Clerk Justad, the following
petitions were referred to the Village Engineer and Chairman of the Street Department
Committee for checking and recommendation, by unanimous vote of Council Members
present:

Mileage for Carlisle Madson
In accordance with recommendation of Village Engineer, Phil W. Smith, it
was moved by Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Clerk Justad, that Carlisle Madson be
authorized to charge for mileage,at the rate,of 7¢ per mile for the use of his
own car in performing his duties, effective July 1, 19502 by unanimous vote of
Council Members present.

New York, N. Y. as surety, dated August 28, 1950,
in the amount of $1,000.00.
HEATING LICENSE BOND with Millard G. Lee, DBA
Minneapolis Gas Conversion, Minneapolis, Minnesota
as principal, and United States Fidelity and
Guaranty Company, Incorporated, Baltimore, Mary-
land as surety, dated -August 28, 1950, in the
amount of $1,000.00.
HEATING LICENSE BOND with Conditioned Air Equip-
ment Company, Minneapolis, Minnesota as principal,
and St. Paul -Mercury Indemnity Company, St. Paul,
Minnesota as surety, dated August 25, 1950, in the
amount of $1,000.00.
CONTRACTORS -BOND with Lametti and Lametti, Inc.
as principal, and Seaboard Surety Company of

amount of $199,769.95, covering the construction
of Sanitary Sewer 2-I with Lift Station, on
certain streets within the Village of St. Louis
Park and south of the St. Louis Park -Edina

Water Main - Huntington -36th to Excelsior
On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee'Jorvig, the construction
of water mains in Huntington Avenue from 36th Street to Excelsior Boulevard (to
be included in our present contract with Phelps -Drake Company, Incorporated as an
extra) was approved by unanimous vote of the Council Members present. $1,000.00
has been deposited with Village by Huntington Improvement Corporation to cover
Village Engineerts estimate of assessment for same. See Page No. 37--
Gas
7:
Gas Main Extension
On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Clerk Justad, the Minneapolis
Gas Company was granted permission to construct gas mains at the following loca-
tion, by unanimous vote of Council Members present -----
#367 IN PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE FROM MINNETONKA BOULEVARD
TO WEST 29TH STREET.
Permission to Place Pole
On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Clerk Justad, the Northern
States Power Company was granted permission to place One (1) pole on West 36th
Street at approximately Joppa Avenue, by unanimous vote of Council Members present.

Building Inspector's Monthly Report
The Building Inspector's report for the month of August, 1950, showing
that a total of 213 building permits were issued, totaling $2,383,750.00, was read
and ordered filed.
Building Inspectors Weekly Report
The Building_Inspector's weekly report for week ending September 1, 1950,
showing that 50 building permits were issued, totaling $271,600, was read and
ordered filed.
Fire Departments Report for August, 1950
_The Fire Department's report for the month of August, 1950 was read and
ordered filed.

Justice of Peace, E. A. Linnee's report of fines, dated August 31, 1950,
was read and ordered filed.
Minutes
The minutes of meetings held July 24, 1950, July 31, 1950, August 7, 1950,
August 14, 1950, August 21, 1950 and August 28, 1950 were read and approved as
read.
Grading Authorized
On motion of Clerk Justad,{seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, M. P. Johnson
was authorized to grade the west half of Utah Avenue between Minnetonka Boulevard
and 31st Street under the supervision of the Village Engineer, and.upon posting
of a performance bond in an amount equal to the Village Engineer's estimate of
completion cost; all work to be done at no cost to the Village or any adjacent
property owners. Motion was passed by unanimous vote of Council Members present.
"Residential Parking Signs"
On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, the Police
Department was instructed to place three (3) RESIDENTIAL PARKING signs on the
east side of Dakota Avenue north of T Alley,north of Minnetonka Boulevard; and
three (3) RESIDENTIAL PARKING signs on the north side of Minnetonka Boulevard
west of Dakota Avenue, west of stores, by unanimous vote of Council Members
present.
Four -Way Stop Signs Ordered
On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded -by, Trustee Jorvig, the Police
Department was instructed to place FOUR-WAY STOP signs at the intersection of
Lake Street, Dakota Avenue and Wooddale Avenue, by unanimous vote of Council
Members present.
Police and Street Departments Exchange Cars
On motion of Trustee Jorvig, seconded by, Trustee Bolmgren, the Street
Commissioner was authorized to turn over to Police Department for Police use,
1949 8BA Ford Tudor Sedan, motor #98 BA 405 481, and accept for his use in the
Street Department, 1949 8BA Ford Tudor Sedan, Motor #98 BA 349 759 from the Police
Department. Motion was passed by,unanimous vote of Council Members present.
Hearing Date Set for Grading
On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, October 9, 1950
was -set as date of hearing for the grading of CAMBRIDGE STREET FROM COLORADO
AVENUE TO EDGEWOOD AVENUE, ADJACENT 4W PROPERTY_ TO BE ASSESSED FOR WORK DONE.
Motion was passed by unanimous -vote of Council Members_present._
Examinations for Common Fireman
On motion of Trustee Jorvig, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the Fire Civil
Service Commission was requested to hold examinations for common fireman for the
purpose of preparing an eligible list from which appointments may be made in the
near future. Motion was passed by unanimous vote of Council Members present.
Request for Additional Bus Service (Texas -Highway #7)
On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, the Clerk was
instructed to write to the Twin City Rapid Transit Company, requesting three
more daily trips on Highway #7 to Texas Avenue - one at 10:30 A. M., one at
12:00 Noon, and one at 1:30 P. M. to conform with request of residents in that
area thru Barney Gross. Motion was passed by unanimous vote of Council Members
present.
Hearing Date Set for Rezoning
On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, October 9, 1950
was set as date for hearing on the rezoning of Lots 16 and 17, Block 158, Re-
arrangement of St. Louis Park, from Commercial Use to Residential Use, by unani-
mous vote of Council Members present. Y

On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, the following
estimates of contract work in progress as presented by Village Engineer, Phil W.
Smith, was approved, and the Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized to issue
