Noone appeared. On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Perkins, the following resolution was adopted by unanimous vote of all Council Members present: RESOLUTION ORDERING WATERMAIN AND SEWER EXTENSIONS WHEREAS, the Village Council has met at the time and place specified in the notice published in the St. Louis Park Dispatch January 4 and 11, 1950, and held a public hearing on proposed extension of Village water main in Excelsior Boulevard from Dakota Avenue from north and south center line of Section 20, III Township 117, Range 21; also in Meadowbrook from Excelsior Boulevard to Excelsior Boulevard; and in Meadowbrook Lane from Meadowbrook levard t North End; and also has held a public hearing on proposed lift sta' i.! tf t n�ary'`Sewer District No. 2-N and for construction of lateral sewers in all streets of Meadowbrook Manor, and it appearing- to the Village Council that said improvements are necessary, therefore, • • BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of St. Louis Park that the proposed improvements described above be. hereby ordered, and • BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that plans and specifications for each of said im- provements which have been prepared by the Village Engineer be hereby approved, and that the Clerk's advertisement for Bids to be opened February 6, 1950, be hereby approved. • Taxicab Licenses - Airway Taxicab Co. • Mr. I. E. Schermer of Airway Taxicab Company spoke in favor of their applica- tion for licenses to operate four taxicabs in St. Louis Park. He said we need more cabs in the Park and called attention to the survey he made in 1948, copies of which were given to each Council Member. • He indicated that the present opera- tursco'uld tome into the Airway system. Trustee Jorvig asked Mr. Schermer if he were sure that Minneapolis cabs III are coming out here and answering calls. His answer was "yes". Mr. Schermer offered to contact the Flash Radio Cab people regarding to joining up, if we would give him the four .licenses he requested, and hold same until he had done so. Nb action was taken at this time, but it was- the consensus of opinion that if Airway wanted formal action on their application that it would be denied. • Permission to Place Poles On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the Northern States Power Company was granted permission to place poles at the following loca- tions, by unanimous vote of the -Council: • • One (1) pole on Colorado Avenue and West 32nd Street • Three (3) poles on Rhode Island and West 322, 33 and 34th Streets Three (3) poles on Sumpter and West 322i 33, and 34th Streets January 23, 1950 &J Hearing Date Set - Alley Vacation On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, February 20, 1950 was set as date for hearing on vacation of Alley in Block 143, Rearrangement of St. Louis Park, by unanimous vote of the Council. Petition for Water Main P-496 On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Tru8tee Perkins, the following petition was approved by unanimous vote of the Council: PETITION FOR WATER MAIN, signed by George Donovan of Meadowbrook Manor, Incorporated, and dated Jqnuary 17, 1950, for the construction of water mains in Excelsior' Boulevard from Dakota Avenue West to the North and South center line of Section 20, Township 117, Range 21; thence along Meadowbrook Boulevard starting from the west in a northerly, easterly and southerly direction to where Meadowbrook Boulevard again joins Excelsior Boulevard, also Meadowbrook Lane from Meadowbrook Boulevard north to the north end of said Lane. 1950 Licenses Approved On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the following applications for 1950 licenses were approved, and the Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized to issue licenses to expire December 31, 1950: Minneapolis Oil Engineering Company Heating 5yverson Sheet Metal Company Heating Northwest Sheet Metal & Air Cond. Warranty Deed Approved and Accepted (Deters) On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the Warranty Deed furnished by Alvin J. Deters and Inez Deters, his wife, for and in con- sideration of $450.00 for the following described property was approved and accepted by unanimous vote of the Council: Lots Forty (40) and Forty-one (41), Block Two-hundred Ninety-one (291), Rearrangement of St. Louis Park, according to the plat thereof_on file and of record in the office of the Register of Deeds of Hennepin County, Minnesota. (For street purposes.) Minutes The minutes of meetings held December 5, 7, 12, 19, 22, 1949 and January 3, 9, and 16, 1950 were read and approved as read. On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the overpayment on Job 0-81, Tar mat on Lot 33, Block 3, Thorpe Brothers Cedar Lake Heights on December 12, 1949 (Receipt No. 1897 A), in the amount of $29.04, was approved for refund upon receipt of a verified claim signed by Northwestern National Life Co., by unanimous vote of `the Council. Ordinance No. 354 On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the following Ordinance was adopted by unanimous vote of the Council: ORDINANCE NO. 354 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF ST. LOUIS PARK The Village Council of the Village of St. Louis Park ordains: Section 1. Section 19.21 of the Zoning Ordinance of the Village of St. Louis Park as amended by Ordinance No. 349 adopted December 19, 1949, is hereby repealed. Zarthan Avenue Bus Stop On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, the West bound bus stop on Excelsior Boulevard at Zarthan Avenue was designated as a NEAR STOP, and the Twin City Rapid Transit Company should be so advised. Motion was passed by unanimous vote of the Council. Request for Rezoning - Gerard's Meadowbrook Addition On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, the request of E. J. Gerard, President of Gerard' s Incorporated for rezoning of the balance of property in Gerard's Meadowbrook Addition for Commercial Use was referred to the Planning Commission for checking and recommendation, by unanimous vote of the Council. Bids for Overhead Traffic Signals On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, February 27th 1950 was set as date for opening bids for Two (2) center overhead traffic sig- nals as per specifications for Brookside Avenue and Excelsior Boulevard, and Ottawa Avenue and Minnetonka Boulevard, by unanimous vote of the Council. Adding Machine for Special Assessment Department The following bids were submitted for the furnishing of an adding machine for the Special Assessment Department: 1. Allen Wales Adding Machine Sales Company 127 South Third Street, Minneapolis, Minn. 1 Allen-Wales Model 11-E-246487, ten column machine with electric universal motor with addition and subtraction feature, non-add, non-print and adjustable line feature, with substraction printing in red and visible dials at list price of $290.00 less Government dis- count of 10% and tax exempt. Net $261.00. 2. Underwood Corporation, 1108 Nicollet Avenue, Minneapolis, Minn. 1 Sundstrand Adding Machine to meet our re- quirements at $300.00 less discount of 10%. Net $270.00. Connery, Special Assessment Department, it was moved by Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Perkins that the bid of Allen-Wales Adding Machine Sales Company for 1 Allen-Wales Model 11-E-246487 at a net price of $261.00 be accepted, and the Clerk authorized to issue a purchase order for same, by unanimous vote of the Council. Resolution On motion of Trustee Jorvig, seconded by Trustee Perkins, the following resolution was adopted by unanimous vote of the Council: RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the Village Council on November 15, 1948, adopted a resolution for acquisition of certain tax forfeited lands described as Lots 1, 2, 8, 31, 35, 36, 37, 38, Block 9, Thorpe Brothers Cedar Lake Heights for public park purposes; and application has been made to the State of Minnesota for conveyance of same, and WHEREAS, the Village Street Commissioner has found it necessary to construct a drainage ditch across Lot 8, Block 9, Thorpe Brothers Cedar Lake Heights, which is one of the lots included in said application, and the Village Council has de- termined that it is necessary that the Village have said lot for drainage of 26th Street and Monterey Avenue, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council that said resolution adopted November 15, 1948, and the application made pursuant thereto be hereby amended so as to request conveyance of said Lot 8, for drainage purposes.
