Resolution Ordering Street Improvements, Cont'd. _ _
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the said sidewalks and curb and gutter and
grading and graveling shall be done by contract in accordancd with plans and speci-
fications to be prepared by the Village Engineer and that the tar mat and seal
coat are to be done under the direction of the Street Commissioner using road tar
and bituminous plant mix furnished by Republic Creosoting Company, J. V. Gleason
and Glenn Johnson Contracting Company in accordance with their respective contracts
with the Village and it appearing to the Council that the cost of the proposed
storm drain will not exceed $1,000., the Village Engineer is- authorized to proceed
with construction of same in accordance with plans and specifications prepared
by him which are hereby approved, and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the cost of each of said improvements be
assessed against the property improved thereby pursuant to Chapter 119, Laws of
Minnesota, 1949.

SPECIAL bEETING AUGUST 5, 1949
Ill ' A Special Meeting of the Village Council was called to order by Mayor
0. B. Erickson at 5:15 P. M., with the following Council Members present at roll
call': •

Bid Awarded - Used Tractor •
The following report with reference to purchasing a USED TRACTOR, presented
by Street Commissioner, K. Johnson, was read: • '
"With reference to the bid of- Rodgers Hydraulic Co.
received July 25, 1949, for One (1) Used Tractor and
• five-foot cutting mower -- I have seen the tractor
and find same in very good condition. The purchase of
• this tractor will be a saving of approximately $300.
over a new one, and will serve our purpose satisfactorily.
I recommend that the bid of Rodgers Hydraulic Company
be accepted."
On motion of Trustee Perkins,' seconded by Trustee Jorvig, the bid of
Rodgers Hydraulic Company received July 25, 1949, for furnishing of One (1) Used
Model B, Allis-Chalmers tractor with Five, (5) Foot cutting bar with hydraulic
lift attached in the amount of $1,060.00 was.deemed to be the lowest bid of a
responsible bidder, and the Clerk is hereby authorized to issue a purchase order
for same in the amount bid ($1,060.00), by unanimous vote of Council Members
present.

Bids for Tandem Roller Discussed
The bids for Tandem Roller received August 1, '1949 were discussed, and
action on same was deferred to meeting of August 15, 1949.
Action on' Sidewalk Deferred •
The location of sidewalk on the East Side of Dakota Avenue between 29th
Street and Minnetonka Boulevard was discussed. Inasmuch as there is ,still some
dispute as to whether it should be four or 42 feet wide, it was suggested that
action on same be deferred to meeting of August 15, 1949; and in the mean time,
check the walk on the West Side which is to be laid during the week of August
8th, 1949.

Hearing - Application for Permit for Two-Family Dwelling
Pursuant to Notice published in the _St. Louis Park Dispatch, a hearing was
had on the application of C. W. Peterson for a permit to construct a two-family
dwelling at 4304 Minnetonka Boulevard. No one appeared.,
On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the Building
Inspector is hereby authorized to issue building permit to C. W. Peterson for
the construction of a two-family dwelling at 4304 Minnetonka Boulevard, by un-
animous vote of the Council.
Petition for Grading, Graveling & Opening P-450 - " -
On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee, Bolmgren, the petition
signed by Ingolf Haugen, 2018 Georgia Avenue and others for grading, graveling
and opening of Georgia Avenue from Cedar Lake Road to Franklin Avenue, dated
August 15, 1949, was referred to the Village Engineer and Chairman of the Street
Department Committee for checking and recommendation, by unanimous vote of_the
Council.
Report of Fires for July, 1949
The Fire Department's report of fires for the month of July, 1949 was read
and ordered filed. .
