Motion was passed by unani- mous vote of the Council. - Hearing Date Set-Vacation of Street On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Clerk Justad, a hearing was set for July 26, 1948, on the petition of The Pure Oil Company, for vacation of Evergreen Avenue from France Avenue to Excelsior Boulevard, by unanimous vote - of-the Council. IIIBonds Approved - On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the following bonds were approved by unanimous vote of Council Members present: CONTRACTORS BOND with George Madsen as principal, and Continental Casualty • Company as surety, dated June 3, 1948, in the amount of $15,842.25, covering • curb and gutter contract. • CONTRACTORS BOND with De Graff-Wolff as principal, and United States Fidelity • and Guaranty Company.as surety, dated June 1, 1948, in the amount of $11,996.30, • covering contract for Storm Sewer No. 17-4. CONTRACTORS BOND with De Graff-Wolff as principal, and United States Fidelity and Quaranty Company,as surety, dated June 1, 1948, in the amount of $9,803.90, covering contract for Storm Sewer No. 17-1. IllRequest for Building Permit On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Perkins, the applica- tion of Chemical Plastics, Inc., 7301 West Lake Street, dated June 4, 1948, for a building permit for the construction of a cement block building 30' x 681 x 42' on Lot 19, Block 161, Rearrangement of St. Louis Park, was referred torthe Planning Commission by unanimous vote of the Council. H. Mohrbacker Co., to erect a commercial building on the East 60 feet of the area known as the E. A. Hurlbutt 3.38 acres (Si of Section 6, Township 28, Range 24 W), subject to the working plans being presented to the Village Council. Motion was ' • passed by unanimous vote of the Council. Miniature Golf Club - Closing Hour A discussion was had regarding the closing time of the Miniature Golf Club located on the NE Corner of Huntington Avenue and West Lake Street. Mr. Edey, owner of the course and Mrs. Wessner who lives in duplex North of same were present. Mrs. Wessner suggested that 10:30 P. M. closing time would be better than later. Mr. Edey said he closes the gate at 10:15 P. M., and all the lights are out by 11:00 P. M. Parking is causing no nuisance, but playing. is. President Erickson said the matter would be taken up later in the evening, and decision would be given to Mrs. Wessner and Mr. Edey. LATER - It was finally suggested that the place be closed up tight at 10:45 P. M. Scavenger Manhole Ordered On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Holmgren, the substitute bid of Phelps-Drake Company, Incorporated of $467.50 for the construction of a scavenger manhole at 36th Street and Wooddale Avenue was accepted and work ordered done as soon as possible. Motion was passed by unanimous vote of- Councilmen present. Bid Awarded - Sanitary Sewer Job 2-EIII 4 On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the bid of Phelps-Drake Company, Incorporated, dated June 4, 1948, of $1,434.50 for the construction of Sanitary Sewer Job 2-E - on the South Service Drive of State Highway No. 7 from Wooddale East 180 feet was determined to be the lowest bid of a responsible bidder, and the President and Clerk were authorized to enter into a written contract with the Phelps-Drake Company, Incorporated for the construction of said sewer, on forms approved by the Village Attorney. Motion was approved by unanimous vote of the Council. Licenses Approved On motion of Trustee Jorvig, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the following applications for 1948 licenses were approved, and the President and Clerk were June 28, 1948 279 Licenses, Continued authorized to issue licenses to expire December 31, 1948, by unanimous vote of the Council: Sallblad Electric Company , Electrical Wilson Electric Company Electrical Economy Furnace Co. r Heating Mooneys Heating Mooneys Plumbing Bach and Mc Carty Gas Station 3 pumps Harry C. Ridler ,Plumbing Petition for Sanitary Sewer P-205 On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the petition signed by Leslie E. Brose, 4116 Wooddale Avenue and others, dated June 24, 1948, for the construction of Sanitary Sewer in WOODDALE AVENUE FROM 41ST STREET TO BROWNDALE AVENUE, was read and referred to the Village Engineer and Chairman of the Sewer Department Committee, by unanimous vote of Council Members present. Petition for Sanitary Sewer - P-206 • On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the petition signed by Richard C. Oas, 3205 Hampshire Avenue and others, for the construction of Sanitary Sewer in HAMPSHIRE AVENUE FROM 32ND STREET TO 33RD STREET, dated bay 25, 1948, was read and referred to the Village Engineer and Chairman of the Sewer Department Committee for checking and recommendation, by unanimous vote of the. Council. Petition - Vacation of Street • On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the petition signed by Alfred J. Jorgensen, 3954 Alabama Avenue, and others, for the vacation of 40TH STREET BETWEEN ALABAMA AVENUE AND BRUNSWICK AVENUE, was read and referred to the Planning Commission for checking and recommendation, by unanimous vote of the Council. Permission to Bury Cable • On motion of Trustee Jorvig, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the application of the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, dated June 23, 1948, for permission to place a buried cable at 27th Street and Princeton Avenue was granted by un- animous vote of the Council. Gas Main Extensions On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, the application of -the Minneapolis Gas Light Company for construction of gas main extensions #4382 and #4383 as approved as follows: 1. Pennsylvania Avenue from West Lake Street to • #3712 Lots 6 and 7, Block 318, Rearrangement of St. Louis Park - 3" main 2. Jersey Avenue from Minnetonka Boulevard to West 28th Street - 3" main. - Motion was passed by unanimous vote of the Council. Petition for Rezoning Denied • On motion of Trustee Jorvig, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the petition of Albert Kipp, 3117 Hennepin Avenue, for the rezoning of Lots 17, 18, 19, Block 194, Rearrangement of St. Louis Park from Residential to Commercial Use was denied, by unanimous vote of the Council. Council Meeting - July 6, 1948 . • Due to Monday, July 5, 1948 being a Legal Holiday, it was moved by Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Perkins, that Tuesday, July 6, 1948 be set as next meeting date of the Village Council, by unanimous vote of the Counciliien present. Advertise for Bids - Dump Truck, Etc. • On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids on one 12 ton truck (to replace oldest truck) with dump body; one one-way truck snow plow and one V_plow for Adams patrol -- bids to be opened August 2, 1948, by unanimous vote of the Council.
