A meeting of the Village Council was called to order by President pro tem,
Howard W. Perkins at 8:25 P. M. with the following Councilmen present at roll

Bids - Wheel Type Tractor
Bids were received and opened for a wheel type tractor, as advertised
in St. Louis Park Dispatch, from the following Bidder -
Rosholt Equipment Company $1,167.50
On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, the above
bid was referred to the Village Engineer and Street Commissioner for checking
and recommendation, by unanimous vote of Councilmen present.
Bids - 1947 Annual Financial Statement
Bids were received and opened for the printing of the 1947 Annual
Financial Statement, as advertised in the St. Louis Park Dispatch, from the
following -
Gile Letter Service $350.00
On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, the Gile
Letter Service bid was referred to the Village Clerk for checking and recom-
mendation, by unanimous vote of Councilmen present.
Letter Re: Error in Sewer Bid
A letter was read from Orfei and Mariani, dated March 9, 1948, explain-
ing that an error was made in their bid of March 8, 1948 for Sanitary Sewer to
be constructed in Excelsior Boulevard from Wooddale to Dakota Avenues; the error
being $7,923.30 short due to overlooking the cost of the pipe. Mr. Orfei was
present, and the matter was discussed.
Villap Attorney said that the Village. Council could not accept the
additional biYl. He asked Mr. Orfei what he would do if the Village Council
accepted the original bid of $96,003.30 - would he enter into a contract at
that price? He said he would have to think this over. He would not be able to
make anything on the deal. He offered to show us his work sheets used in making
the bid. He was asked to bring them in to the Clerk's Office. No action taken
on bids at this time.
Deephaven Bus Route
On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, the Clerk
was instructed to write the Deephaven Bus Company, commending them on the new
bus route as follows: From Lake Street and Highway #100 North to Cedar Lake
Road; thence West to Village Limits (Jordan Avenue); _thence South to Minnetonka
Boulevard. Motion was passed by unanimous vote of Council Members present.
- Bid Awarded - Bituminous Plant Mix
Bids for furnishing and delivering bituminous plant mix into Village
trucks in accordance with specifications therefore, received March 8, 1948, and
tabulated by Village Engineer, J. C. Utton were read as follows:
Bury and Carlson X5.25 per ton

On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, the bid of
J. V. Gleason to furnish delivered into Village trucks in accordance with
specifications, 3,000 tons, more or less, Bituminous Plant Mix at $4.30 per ton,
was determined the lowest bid of a responsible bidder received pursuant to ad-
vertisement for bide, and the President and Clerk were directed to enter into a

SPECIAL MEETING - MARCH 17, 1948
A special meeting of the Village Council was called to order by President
pro tem Howard W. Perkins, to discuss sewer bids received Monday, March 8, 1948,
and the request of the Frank Lundberg Post #282, American Legion to hold boxing
exhibitions, subsequent to notifying the following --- Trustee Perkins, Trustee
Jorvig, Trustee Bolmgren and Clerk Justad.
The meeting was called to order at 4:30 P. M. and the following were
present at roll call: •

Sewer Bids Rejected
A letter from Orfei and Mariani, dated March 9, 1948, calling attention
to an error in their bid of March 1st for construction of sanitary sewer in Ex-
celsior Boulevard from Wooddale Avenue to Dakota Avenue was read. This error
would increase their bid $7,923.30. Due to the fact that the Village Council
could not accept this with the increase, it was moved by Trustee Bolmgren,
seconded by Clerk Justad that the bids received March 1, 1948 for sanitary sewer •----
construction in Excelsior Boulevard between Wooddale Avenue and Dakota Avenue
were rejected except the bid of Orfei and Mariani, and the Clerk was authorised
to readvertise for same, bids to be opened April 12, 1948. Motion was passed by
unanimous vote of Council Members present.
Boxing Exhibitions Approved
On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Clerk Justad, the following
resolution was adopted by unanimous vote of Council Members present:
RESOLUTION APPROVING BOXING
EXHIBITIONS
WHEREAS, the officers of the Frank H. Lundberg 'Post #282 of the American
Legion have requested permission to hold boxing exhibitions in the Village of
St. Louis Park, and
WHEREAS, the same officers have informed the Village Council that the net
proceeds from these boxing exhibitions are to go to the Heart Fund and other
similar welfare projects, now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED.by the Village Council of the Village of St. Louis Park
that permission is hereby granted to the Frank H. Lundberg Post #282, American
Legion of St. Louis Park to hold boxing exhibitions in the Village of St. Louis
Park, to hold boxing exhibitions in the Village of St. Louis Park, Minnesota.
