Hearing - Two-Family Dwelling A hearing was had on the application of John Miller for a special permit to reconstruct his home at 5704 West 34th Street to a two-family dwelling; and the following persons appeared --- Mr. Jim Otis, 3356 Xenwood Avenue, representing people on Xenwood and vicinity appeared in opposition to John Miller's request. Mr. Miller spoke in his own favor -- said he was'married and would like to use `part of the house for himself and rent the other part to a Minister who now lives in the house. Mr. Otis said the feeling is that as a two-family dwelling it would reduce the value of other property in the vicinity as well as invite other similar requests which would tend to further reduce the values of homes. There were eight people in the room and they presented a petition signed by eleven single family home owners in the neighborhood. • Mr.' Alexis Caswell, Jr.; 3355 Xenwood Avenue spoke in favor of single family dwellings in the residential district. A petition signed by W. I. Lerhdahl and three others stating that they were in favor of Mr. Miller's_ application was read.
