Bids for Grading As advertised in the St. Louis Park Dispatch, September 17, 1948, bids were received and read from the following bidders for the grading of certain streets and alleys designated as Improvement Nos. N-6, N-16, N-120, N-122 to N-27 and N-134 to N-141 inclusive. On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the above bids were referred to the Village Engineer and Chairman of the Street Department Committee, by unanimous vote of the Council. Bids for 2 1/2 ,to 3-Ton Truck As advertised in the St. Louis Park Dispatch September 17, 1948, bids were received and read from the following bidders for One (1) 2 1/2 to 3-ton truck chassis with cab: 1. Minnesota FWD Company On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the above bids were referred to the Street Commissioner and Chairman of the Street Department Committee for checking and recommendation, by unanimous vote of Council Members pre sent. Bids for Sewer Construction As advertised in the St. Louis Park Dispatch, September 10, 17, 24, 1948, bids were received and read from the following bidders for the construction of a District Sanitary Sewer in Excelsior Boulevard from Dakota Avenue to Webster Avenue: 1. Lametti and Lametti 4 2. Orfei and Mariani 3. Phelps-Drake Company, Inc. { , 4. Western Underground Construction Co. Hearing on Petition for Street Vacation A hearing was had on the petition of Independent School District of St. Louis Park for the vacation of 22nd Street from Hampshire Avenue to Idaho Avenue. No one appeared. On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, action on the above petition was deferred until the School Board presents a deed for 30 feet of east side of school property at Eliot School, from 22nd Street to Cedar Lake Road for road purposes. Motion was passed by unanimous vote of the Council. Permission to Grade On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, G. B. Miller was granted permission to grade 22nd Street from Louisiana Avenue to Kentucky Avenue and remove surplus dirt, subject to receipt of bond or undertaking agreement in the amount of $2,000.00; agreeing to save the Village harmless from any claims resulting from any acts or omissions of G. B. Miller or his contractor and to complete the work as directed by the Village Engineer. Motion was passed by unanimous vote of the Council. Licenses Approved On motion of Trustee Jorvig, seconded by Trustee Perkins, the following applications for 1948 licenses were approved, and the President and Clerk were authorized to issue licenses to expire December 31, 1948, by unanimous vote of the Council: // Oil Burner Service Co. Heating Trax Oil Company Cigarette Gas Station - 4 pumps 1. • Sween Brothers Dairy Farms, Inc. Milk - 2 Trucks J. 0. Davis Restaurant Clifford Browne Heating, subject to the approval of the Building Inspector. Grading Bid Awarded On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Perkins, the bill o Terry Brothers Excavating Company opened earlier in this meeting, for grading of certain streets and alleys designated as Improvement Nos. N-6, N-16, N-120, N-122 o N-127 and N-134 to N-141 inclusive, in the amount of $11,056.30, was determined to be the lowest bid of a responsible bidder, and the President and Clerk were directed to enter into a written contract with Terry Brothers Excavating Company for the work to be done at price bid. Motion was passed by unanimous vote of the Council. Petitions On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the follow-i ing petitions were referred to the Village Engineer and Chairman of the Street Department Committee for checking and recommendation, by_unanimous vote of the Council: • P-262 PETITION FOR ALLEY GRADING, signed by Sam G. P-264 PETITION FOR GRADING, signed by F. J. Wekkind, 6013 West _34th Street and others, for grading of 34TH STREET FROM 'ALABAMA AVENUE TO BRUNSWICK AVENUE. Sidewalk Construction Bond On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the Sidewalk Construction Bond of L. V. Bjorklund and Dale Walker, dated October 4, 1948, in the amount of $500.00, covering construction of sidewalk on the East side of Zarthan Avenue between West Lake Street and Minnetonka Boulevard, adjacent to • 3137 Zarthan Avenue was approved by unanimous vote of the Council. Motion Recinded - Permit Approved On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the motion passed at September 27, 1948 meeting canceling Building Permit #6019 was recinded, and Permit #6019 was reinstated; the building to be constructed as per plans dated October 1, 1948;'-with setback of 20 feet as required by the Zoning Ordi- nance. (Suburban Electric Company). Motion was passed by unanimous vote_of the Council. Fire Report for September, 1948 The Fire Departmentts report of fires for the month of September, 1948 was read and ordered filed. Permission to Place Poles On motion of Trustee Jorvig, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the Northern States Power Company were granted permission to place poles at the following locations, --- 2 poles on Quentin Avenue-33rd St. & Highway #7 1 " " West 22nd Street - Jersey & Kentucky Avenues - 2 " " Kentucky Avenue - Lake & 29th Streets Motion was passed by unanimous vote of the Council. £ Permission to Place Cable • On motion of Trustee Holmgren, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company was granted permission to place buried cable in West 41st Street between Vernon Avenue and Xenwood Avenue, by unanimous vote of Council- men pre sent. _ _ r Police Report for September, 1948 The police report for September, 1948 was read and ordered filed. Crone, 2657 Salem Avenue and others, for the vacation of alley in Block 1, Blakeman's 3rd Addition, and Block 1, Oak Lawns. Motion was passed by unanimous vote of Council Members present. Bid Airearded - Painting Water Tank On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Perkins, the bid of Midway Waterproofing Company, St. Paul, Minnesota opened' earlier in this meeting, for the painting of steel water• tank, riser pipe, tower columns, struts and braces, in the amount of $3,815.00, was determined to be the lowest bid of a responsible bidder, and the President and Clerk were directed to enter into a written contract in behalf of the Village with Midway Waterproofing Company for the work to be done at price bid. Motion was passed by unanimous vote of the Council. Deed Accepted On motion of Tarustee Jorvig, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the Quit Claim Deed of Fremont Investment Company, for Lots 6, 7, 8, 9, Block 1; and Lots 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, Block 2, Barrett's Addition to the Village of St. Louis Park for use as public streets and parks was accepted by unanimous vote of the Council. -_ Estimates Approved On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Holmgren, the following Estimates of contract work in progress as presented by Village Engineer, J.
