Co. 134,544.50 September 8, 1947 1 Bids - Sanitary Sewer No. 1-0 Bids were received for construction of sanitary sewer No. 1-0 pursuant to advertisement for same in the St. Louis Park Dispatch, from the following bidders: 1. Lametti & Lametti $ 9,971.31 2. Orfei & Mariani 9,838.75 3. Bonander & Company 9,473.40 4. Western Underground Const. Co. 7,336.80 On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, the above bids on construction of Sanitary Sewers No. 2 B and 1-0 were referred to the Village Engineer and Sewer Department for checking and tabulation, by unanimous vote of II[ the Council. Park Water Main (Oak Hill District) A letter from the Women's Club of St:' Louis Park, dated September 8, 1947, was read relative to a large Park in the Village, and the extension of Water Main from Walker Street to the Park area in' the Oak Hill District, along Quebec Ave. On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the above letter was referred to the Water and Park Committees for checking and recommendation, by unanimous vote of the Council. Kennel License Denied Victor Formoe reported on his investigation of the application of Mrs. H. C. Alderson for a license to operate a Dog Kennel at 2201 Dakota Avenue - stating the neighbors in that vicinity were opposed to a Dog Kennel at that location. On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, the application of Mrs. H. C. Alderson for a license to operate a Dog Kennel at 2201 Dakota Avenue was denied by unanimous vote of the Council. Hearing Date - Vacation of Part of Xenwood On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Perkins, September 29, 1947 was set as date for hearing on the Petition for vacation of a portion of Xenwood Avenue just South of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific RR, by unanimous vote of the Council. Building Permit-Commercial Building On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the Building Inspector was authorized to issue a building permit to V. Rorback for the construction of a Commercial building on Lot 10, Block 3, Brookview Park Addition, by unanimous vote of the Council. Trustee Perkins Trustee Perkins left the meeting at this time --- 9:30 P. M. Hearing Date - Rezoning On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Clerk Justad, September 29, 1947 was set for a hearing on the request of A. W. Lampe for rezoning Lots 16, 17, 18, Block 3, Brookview Park Addition from "C" to tDn Density, by unanimous vote of Coujcilmen pre sent. _ • Resolution On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, the following resolution was adopted by unanimous vote of all members of the Council present: • IP RESOLUTION SETTING ASSESSMENT HEARINGS FOR CURB AND GUTTER WHEREAS, the Village of St. Louis Park has heretofore entered into a contract for construction of curb and gutter at the following locations pursuant to a resolution adopted by the Village Council June 16, 1947; West side of Xenwood Avenue between 33rd Street and the North line of Lot 122, Norwaldo West side of Dakota Avenue from 28th Street to 29th Street East side of Dakota Avenue from 28th Street to 29th Street West side of Toledo Avenue from 41st Street to Wooddale Avenue " .�.�R_ . eptember 8, 1947 Cr.)C► m Resolution, Continued ;1;i. Bingo A letter dated September 8, 1947 from the St. Louis Park Post No. 5632, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States was read, requesting permission to play Bingo in the Post Home located on 36th Street and the Belt line on various dates beginning October 10, 1947 and ending May 29, 1948 - all dates listed in letter. No action taken. Taxes - Well #6 Property On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, the Treasurer was ordered to pay 1946 taxes on the Si of 280 feet of Lot 5, Block 7, Brookside addition, as part of purchase price for said property for Well #6. Motion was passed by unanimous vote of the Council. 14 00 September 8, 1947 Return Certified Check "' (M. P. Johnson) ' The Village Engineer, J. C. Utton reported that 14th Street from Texas Avenue East is in good shape now and suggested that the certified check being held by the Village in lieu of a performance bond for the completion of this street be returned to the platter, M. P. Johnson. On motion of Trustee Boim- gren, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, the Clerk was authorized to return certified check in the amount of $1,000.00, by unanimous vote of Councilmen present. Permit to Move Tanks On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Clerk Justad, the Texas Company's request for permit to move three tanks -- 1-4,000 and 2-2,000 gallon tanks 15 feet away from their present building at 4400 Excelsior Boulevard, was approved by unanimous vote of Councilmen present. License - Gas Station On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, the applica- tion of Clifford J. Andreason (Veteran), DBA Lilac Way Service Station at 3933 Wooddale Avenue, for transfer of license to operate a 3-pump gas station formerly owned by Lindy's Mobile Station was approved without fee by unanimous vote of Councilmen present. Petition - Sanitary Sewer %� The petition dated September 8, 1947, for construction of sanitary sewer in Toledo Avenue between 42nd Street and Morningside Road, signed by R. C. Olson, 4200 Toledo Avenue was read. On motion of Trustee Jorvig, sec- onded by Trustee Bolmgren, the above petition was referred to the Village Engi- neer and Village Attorney for checking and recommendation, by unanimous vote of Councilmen present. Contractors Bond On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, the Contractors Bond with John Finstad and Norman Finstad, DBA John Finstad and Son of St. Louis Park as principal, and American Surety Company of New York, a corporation, New York, New York as surety, dated August 26, 1947, in the amount of $5,277.00 was accepted by unanimous vote of Councilmen present. Resolution (Elaine Campbell) On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, the following resolution was adopted by unanimous vote of Councilmen present: WHEREAS, you Elaine Campbell, having brought honor and distinction to yourself and to your home town by your success at the recent contest at Atlantic City, New Jersey, receiving not only a scholarship for your use, but also fine publicity in our nation's papers for your Village. Now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Village Council of the Village of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, do heartily con- gratulate you in your success, and express best wishes for a very happy future for you.
