SPECIAL MEETING - DECEMBER 8, 1947 .
A meeting of the Village Council was called to order by President Erickson
at 8:00 P. M. with the following Councilmen present at roll call:

On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Jorvig, the following

Action on Permit Deferred
On motion of Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Perkins, the hearing on
application for a permit to construct a double bungalow on Lots 6 and 7, Block
8, Lenox Addition, of C. K. Bros, was deferred to December 15, 1947, by unani-
mous vote of Councilmen present.
Fire Department Report for November, 1947
The Fire Department's Report of Fires for November, 1947 was read and ordered
filed.
No Bids on Traffic Signals
No bids were received on traffic signals as advertised in the St. Louis
Park Dispatch. It was moved by Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Jorvig
that bids be readvertised. Motion was passed by unanimous vote of Councilmen
present.
Permission to Set Pole
On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the Northern -
States Power Company was granted permission to set one (1) pole on West 40th
Street between Raleigh and Salem Avenues, by unanimous vote of Councilmen present.
Hearing Date-Alley Vacation
A hearing date was set for January 19, 1948, on the petition of the St.
Louis Park Theater Company for the vacation of alley running North and South
adjacent to Lots three (3) to eleven (11), inclusive, Block two (2), Calhoun
Addition; and petition was referred to the Planning Commission for checking and
recommendation, by unanimous vote of Councilmen present.
Building Permit
On motion of Trustee Perkins, seconded by Trustee Bolmgren, the Building
Inspector was authorized to issue a building permit to Mr. Ray Penny of the
Century Products Company for a factory building on property bounded by the M.
& St. L. R. R., Wooddale Avenue, and Highway #7 West of the Skippy Peanut
Butter Company, with setback of 30' from Wooddale Avenue, and far enough away
from Highway #7 so that it will set back of the diagonal line of the State Hghy.
Dept. at the NW corner about 4 feet, and set with front parallel with the
Highway. Motion was passed by unanimous vote of Councilmen present.

Annexation of E. Gerard's 10 Acre plat
The matter of annexation of E. Gerard's 10 acre plat was discussed by
Councilmen present and referred to the Planning Commission for examination.
Hearing Date-Change Density
The matter of petition of Mr: Lars N. Hjelvik to change the density of
Lots 9 and 10, Block 14, St. Louis Park Addition was discussed. On motion of
Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by_Trustee Jorvig that the above lots be changed
from "C" density to "D" density in accordance with the Planning Commission's
recommendation; and that a hearing on the density change-be held on December
22, 1947. Motion was approved by unanimous vote of Councilmen present.

Meeting Date Set-Planning Commission & Village Council
A letter dated December 8; 1947 from the Village Planning Commission,
requesting that a date be set for a meeting of the Village Council and Planning
Commission to discuss various matters of mutual interest, was read. On motion
of' Trustee Bolmgren, seconded by Trustee Perkins, January m. , 1948 was set as
the date of joint meeting of the Council and- Planning Commission, at 5:30 P. M.
at' the Village Hall, by unanimous vote of Councilmen present.
Parks and Playgrounds
A letter dated December 8, 1947 from the Village Planning Commission
regarding parks and playgrounds was read and discussed. The part relating to
the acquisition of certain lots recommended by the Planning Commission in 1943,
wa8 given to Trustee Jorvig to take up with the Park Board. Another portion
of the letter relating to Minnehaha Creek Improvement was 'discussed. It was
moved by Trustee Jorvig, seconded by Trustee' Bolmgren that the- Park Board of
Edina be invited to a joint meeting of the Council and Park Board on December
19; 1947 at 8:00 P. M. Motion was passed by- unanimous Vote of Councilmen
present. -
