Call to order a) Roll call a. Meeting called to order at 9:26am b. Bob Tift, Stuart Williams, and Kyle Wermerskirchen – all commissioners present 2. Approval of minutes a) Fire Civil Service Commission meeting minutes of July 1, 2025 a. Minutes approved with no updates 3. New business a) Approve eligibility roster for position of Firefighter i. 120 applicants, 40 brought into interview, 1. Kyle – is there anyone from the old list that made it to the new list - Yes there is one 2. Stuart moves to accept the eligibility roster, Kyle seconds a. All approve b) Update Fire Civil Service Rules to include new job classes a. Rule One – section 2- Classifications Specified and Rule Seven – Suspension i. Commission is required to maintain a list of all sworn job classifications 1. Stuart is recommending and so moves a. Rule to provide for all job classifications that are set forward in the two union contracts and the Fire Chief and Deputy Fire Chief b. Stuart moves, Bob seconds c. Bob – clarification – every time there is a change they will have to update d. If there is going to be a new job classification created the FCS needs to know about it Rule Seven – Suspension - Replace Fire Captain with Battalion Chief Stuart made a second motion to amend rule seven to replace fire captain with Battalion Chief. Kyle seconds All approved, motion carries 4. Other business a. Request the Assistant Fire Chief – current eligibility list – be closed out and exhausted i. Stuart so moves, Kyle seconds 1. All approved – motion passes b. Pat Coleman’s email – Bob encourages the group to complete the Vision 4.0 survey 5. FIRE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION ROSTER The commission oversees the personnel system of the Fire Department including recruiting personnel, testing, and selecting candidates and certification of eligible persons for appointment and promotion. The commission meets as needed.
