City website redesign update
Slaats shared his positive impressions of participating in the first city website redesign
user workshop, noting the simplification of the website and the focus on making
information easier to find through both site design and an improved search feature.
Stautz attended the second workshop that was more design focused to incorporate
these goals. Stautz said she appreciated the direction of the website design and is
curious about the feedback and output from the session. Smith updated the group that
the website redesign is now at the wireframe stage, with a goal of second quarter 2026
launch.
Overview of existing technology tools
Smith presented information on the city’s existing technology tools and analytics, noting
the information was included in the commission packet. Slaats noted the importance of
this foundational information for council engagement and potential future research.
Council advisory form discussion
Smith suggested using the rest of the year to finalize future work items and include
them on the 2026 work plan, to accomplish the same goal as a council advisory form.
Smith mentioned Vision 4.0 results to be presented to the council in December, which
could provide additional direction to align workplan goals with council vision and
strategic priorities. Commission members agreed to use the remaining 2025 meetings to
finalize ideas and prepare a new work plan for January 2026. They also agreed to share
their emails with one another to coordinate in-person small group meetings (not a
quorum) with Smith reminding the group that open meeting laws apply to email
correspondence as well.
Members agreed to the following action steps.
CTAC will focus on completing its ideas to be included in the 2026 workplan, which
will be approved by council in early 2026, rather than submitting a council advisory
form.
Members will focus on the following areas. The Nov. 19 CTAC meeting will include
30 minutes for the three groups to discuss their topics, then another 30 minutes for
group feedback/discussion.
